Creative School Solution

A playful San Jose school scaled to facilitate student needs. Focusing on how children would use and connect with the space, bright primary accent colors and materials and fun floor patterns were selected. This approach provided an affordable and engaging design. The entrance canopy columns were designed to look like crayons carried on the playful theme, and offered a central meeting point for child pickup. The ground-up building on an in-fill lot was restricted to two stories to accommodate neighborhood restrictions. Greenery surrounds security fencing as a natural privacy and sound barrier. It protects the project’s main feature, a whimsical and intimate playground that wraps from the front to the side of the school.
